I need a creative outlet. I hid the first version of the blog a few years ago. It's gone. I have none of my old posts. I have a blank slate. I can't decide if this is tragic or a gift.
I need to track down both of my readers and ask them.
I stopped the blog in 2014. I felt I was out of ideas. I didn't have the time to create what I did when I started. I was comparing my blog to others. My inner critic ruled my mind and heart. The NFC Championship game in Seattle happened. I went back to side gigs haunting northwoods cabins for wealthy divorced ladies who wanted toe-curling experiences. Then 2020 happened.
The world needs a beacon of light amidst all this darkness. I'm pissed about Nancy Pelosi donning a white lab coat and cooking up the virus in the secret Wuhan military laboratory with the singular intent of derailing the reelection hopes of our Dear Leader. That fucked my shit up. Dick move, Pelosi!
Then Trump's racism, agorophobia, totalitarian tendencies, horrendous economic agenda, divisiveness, corruption, and general dumbassery derailed his own plans because he's a piece of shit fucktard. But, I won't be getting political. I want to bring us together. The real enemies are the bears and Madison Parking Enforcement. I pray we can find common ground under one tent here.
This will be more fan fiction than commentary on actual games and events. You bet your dick I'm doing weekly scouting reports WITH CARTOONS once the season resumes.
I've been watching a lot of games from the early 90s before Holmgren's teams got good on YouTube. The hope and frustration was magic. This gem from J Philly (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OwQ6W8Mg27c) is beautiful. It's Jim and Max from the Packers Radio Network dubbed over the ABC broadcast.
Best moment of the game follows a personal foul against the Packers secondary in the third quarter:
Jim Irwin: Come on now. That shouldn't be a penalty. This is tackle football, not hugging and kissing.
Max McGee: If it was, I'd come back and play.
That's something we need badly today. The visual of Max McGee raw-dogging northeast Wisconsin's finest.
